November 2 Through November 30, 2026
Freeport Bridge Deck Repair
Background
SacDOT is repairing the Freeport Bridge between Highway 160 and South River Road. The bridge will be fully closed to vehicle traffic on weekdays starting on Monday, November 2, through Monday, November 30, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The project will repair the joint armor and bridge deck. Detours will be set up during the weekday closures.
The bridge will reopen to traffic each evening and remain open Saturdays and Sundays. The Freeport Bridge is one of the 6 movable bridges within Sacramento County.
The Freeport Bridge is a joint facility owned and maintained 50/50 between the Counties of Sacramento and Yolo. The bridge crosses the Sacramento River approximately four miles north of Clarksburg and connects South River Road in Yolo County with Freeport Boulevard/State Route 160 in Sacramento County.
The cooler weather and dark nights make the repair work difficult if not impractical at night, so the schedule was set for 6a-6p to shorten the duration of the repairs, and to allow early/late commute and weekend traffic to continue. The long hours are required to complete this job in the one-month timeframe allowed as we need to restore operation of the bridge for winter storms that may require it to be opened. We set the hours to accommodate as much commute and weekend traffic as possible, and as soon as the work is completed, we will restore normal operations.
During the closures, detour signs will direct travelers around the work area. Motorists traveling to or from the Clarksburg area should plan for weekday daytime detours through West Sacramento to the north or across the Paintersville Bridge on State Route 160 to the south.
Project Funding
The reconstruction cost for Freeport Bridge Deck Repair is $300,000 and is funded by the Sacramento County Road Fund.
Road Closure
Monday, November 2, 2026 to November 30, 2026
Freeport Bridge will be closed between Highway 160 and South River Road. Traffic will detour at the Paintersville Bridge. The schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions, work progress or other unforeseen circumstances. Travelers should allow additional time, follow posted detour signs and flagger instructions, and use care around workers and construction equipment.
