Elkhorn Boulevard at 28th Street Traffic Signal Project

This project will improve overall safety and night visibility at the T-intersection of Elkhorn Boulevard at 28th Street in the communities of Rio Linda/Elverta and North Highlands (Supervisorial Districts 1 and 4). The project includes installation of a new traffic signal with safety lights and sidewalk corners.

Project Benefits

·    Improved safety for motorists and bicyclists: controlled stop, speed reduction, intersection lighting.

·    Improved safety for pedestrians: sidewalk corners, delineated crosswalks and signal crossing equipment.

·    Improved access for the disabled: ADA compliant sidewalk ramps and equipment (vibrotactile push buttons, audible and visible countdown pedestrian signal heads).

Funding

·    Estimated construction cost is $1 million with funding provided by a combination of Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and a local percentage match from the Sacramento County Road Fund.
