Folsom Complete Streets Improvement Project Phase 1

​This project is the first phase to implement a segment of the approved Folsom Boulevard Complete Street Master Plan. This project will improve pedestrian accessibility, bicyclist safety, night visibility, and aesthetics for one mile along the south side of Folsom Boulevard between Mayhew Road and Bradshaw Road in Cordova (District 5). The project includes installation of buffered bike lanes, landscaped frontage with decorative street lights, a separated sidewalk, update sidewalk ramps to current ADA standards, and metal rail fencing for separation from the Sacramento Regional Transit Light Rail Tracks.

Project Benefits

  • Improved safety for bicyclists: delineated 3-foot buffered and signed bike lanes, and street lighting.
  • Improved safety for pedestrians: updated pedestrian crossing signal equipment, landscape separated sidewalk, and street lighting.
  • Improved access for the disabled: ADA compliant sidewalk ramps and signals at street crossings.

    -CEQA Document Release to Public: November 1, 2018.
    -CEQA Environmental Action at Board of Supervisors Meeting: Mitigated Negative Declaration - December 5, 2018.
    -NEPA Determination: Categorical Exclusion - December 6, 2018.
  •  Final Design: 2019 to 2020.
  • Right-of-Way Acquisition: 2019 to 2021.
  • Construction: February 2022 - October 2022

Funding

Estimated construction cost is $4.7 million, with funding provided by a combination of Federal Active Transportation Program (ATP), Federal Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBGP), and a local percentage match from the Sacramento County Measure A Sales Tax.
