We are looking for Associate Civil Engineers for our Transportation Planning/Traffic team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate good time management and communication skills, and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, project applicants, and their engineering consultants. 
The Associate Civil Engineer is responsible for a variety of civil and traffic engineering work in connection with the review of development projects, including:
- Training assistant engineer(s) with trip generation calculations and scoping traffic studies
- Reviewing and performing traffic studies
- Coordinating with development customers and their engineers
- Reviewing specific/master plans, including roadway cross sections, determining on and off-site mitigation requirements, calculating fees and fair shares, and coordinating development agreements
- Attending public meetings (e.g. CPAC, Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors) to answer transportation-related questions for development applications
Prior experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable but not required: (1) SB 743 implementation and VMT analysis; (2) trip generation estimation and transportation analysis of development projects; (3) working knowledge of the Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, and/or Cube software packages; (4) experience working with travel demand models; (5) public meeting experience, including presentations to citizen groups and elected/appointed officials; and (6) experience serving on a multi-jurisdictional working group, task force, or committee.
