Sacramento Northern Trail Extension Study

​This project is to complete the Preliminary Analysis and Environmental Review Phase for a 1.25-mile extension of the 10-mile scenic pedestrian/bike path known as the Sacramento Northern Bikeway. This project will provide pedestrian and bicyclist accessibility from Elverta Road to the Placer County line along the former UPRR corridor in the community of Rio Linda / Elverta (Supervisor District 4). This project includes data collection, traffic counts and safety analysis, preliminary design and cost estimates, public outreach and engagement, and environmental review for a paved Class 1 bicycle path, delineated roadway crossings, creek crossings, accessibility from adjacent residential neighborhoods, and supplemental landscaping.

  • Estimated study cost is $590 thousand with funding provided by a combination of Federal Carbon Reduction Program (CRP) and a local percentage match from the Sacramento County Measure A Sales Tax Revenue.
