The Transportation Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) serves as Sacramento County's roadmap for investing in transportation infrastructure within the unincorporated areas. This plan focuses on capital projects that enhance roadway, bikeway, pedestrian, and multimodal systems, supporting a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation network.
The CIP outlines projects scheduled for implementation over the next five years, including anticipated revenues, expenditures, timelines, and project summaries. It reflects the County's commitment to Complete Streets principles, multimodal connectivity, and integration with key planning documents such as the ADA Transition Plan and the Active Transportation Plan, ensuring accessibility and mobility for all users.
Funding Sources and Partnerships
Transportation improvements rely on a diverse mix of funding sources and strategic partnerships, including:
- State and Federal Grants (e.g., Active Transportation Program, Highway Safety Improvement Program)
- Local Funding (sales tax measures, general fund allocations, transportation impact fees)
- Developer Contributions through conditions of approval and impact mitigation
- Regional Partnerships with SACOG, Caltrans, and transit agencies to leverage resources and align priorities
The CIP supports the County General Plan's transportation vision of a balanced system that moves people and goods safely and efficiently, minimizes environmental impacts, and complements urban and rural land uses. By combining innovative design, technology, and sustainable practices, this plan positions Sacramento County to meet current needs while preparing for future growth and climate challenges.
This Transportation Attachment is part of the County's overall CIP and is provided separately for clarity and ease of public access.
The
complete County CIP is managed by the Office of Budget and Debt Management.
